Ze Papa controls with the controller


Ze Son controls with WASD and the space bar.

Yes, I realize this is a bit inconvenient, but until I can figure out how unity's new input system works and how to get multiple characters controlled with different parts of the same keyboard, this is how it'll have to be.

Also, don't go off the edge to the left. Or fall between the Jumping Mushrooms. There's currently no death or even game over screens, so... don't do that. You will literally fall forever.

This game was started as the final project for a college course, but I'm feeling inspired by it, so I'm going to take development a bit further on it


My TODO list for Passage:

-Add: Enemies and combat (nothing, like, Mortal Kombat complex, just a single attack combat system and a basic health system will do)

-Add: Music. I'm currently working on a remaster of the Fungal Forest theme from my other game, Slime Day.

-Add: A background. I mean, I like a the blue sky, but it doesn't hit that moody atmosphere that I imagine for this place

-Add: A menu. 'Nuff said.

Polish items:

-More animations for each character. A falling and jumping animation would be nice, as well as giving Ze Papa a few more frames in his cycles.

-Polish movement and jumping, being able to grab the wall and hold onto it with your face is a fun mechanic, but unintended. Taken care of as of August 2, 2021



August 2, 2021 Update

Did some movement polishing, as well as adding an extra animation state. Now... They can fall

So, they have variable jump height now! Woo! What does that mean?

Well, it's like this: what if you're in front of a little gap, such as here? 


You don't want to jump your full height, that'd make you miss it! You just want a little hop to reach it. Well, with variable jump height, you just tap the jump button, and boom! You don't jump very high. Then, when you want to jump high, you press and hold, and your lil' character jumps with all their might.

"Wait," You ask, "Isn't that, like, an expected feature in like, 99.9% of games with jumping?"

Yes. Yes it is. Which is why it feels weird and just 'off' when you don't have it.

"Then why..."

Look, it took me, like, literal hours to figure out how to do this thing that makes jumping in games feel good, so I'm gonna brag about it as much as I want, okay?

Also, we now have various plants! Woo! Have fun looking at them. They're plants, that's like, all they do.



If you don't have a controller plugged into your Computer, and are finding that even Ze Son doesn't move, you might have to download and use the other zip folder
